Originally from Ohio, Kena's passion for hair care and helping people began at a very young age. As a child in elementary, Kena took great pleasure in styling, cutting and even coloring (with kool-aid or whatever else she thought would work) her barbie dolls hair. Throughout middle and high school years, she'd pack along with her books and homework, curling irons and styling products; she and her friends would skip lunch to set up a mini salon in the restroom. Following graduation from Colonel White High School for the Arts, her hard work as a Young Scholar since the age of 12, earned her a full academic scholarship to attend The Ohio State University. Upon earning a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from The Ohio State University in June 2000, she applied and was admitted to the Georgia Institute of Cosmetology, a Pivot Point accredited program, located in Athens, GA in September 2000. While completing the cosmetology program, Kena gained experience as a Salon Assistant at a local 40 year old family owned Barber and Beauty Salon. In 2001, Kena graduated from GIC with honors. Following graduation she applied and passed the Georgia State Board Exam and continued employment as a Salon Assistant. In 2003, Kena relocated to Atlanta, GA where she pursued her career as a Stylist while working alongside a Chicago based, 30-year beauty industry veteran, Senior Stylist and Salon Owner. As his Assistant and Salon Manager, Kena learned first hand the importance and direct correlation between providing excellent client service, product knowledge, staying current with industry trends, effective salon management, and ownership. Following employment in 2006, Kena became the proud owner of SaloNrg, a full service Holistic Concept Salon.
In response to the growing population of women, men and children experiencing undesirable hair and/or scalp conditions, Kena began specialized training in the field of Trichology. As a Trichologist (hair and scalp specialist), Kena employs a holistic approach to determine possible causes to undesirable hair and/or scalp conditions via thorough hair and scalp analysis, comprehensive personal, family and medical history.

is currently a student at American Intercontinental University (Dunwoody) majoring in Business Marketing. Expected grad date September 2011.
